Scientists changed the length of time in 2162.

Im pretty sure that, while this is true, the "galactic standard year" is literally a few decimal points different than an earth year. Same with the a galactic standard for a day. Its 24 hours instead of 24.02 hours, or some such nonsense.

Ooohhh.

Next time use a bigger, more obvious date. :D
Like 2249 or something.
One we don't have info for to be confusing. :D

Also we could use an Angry dome for N7 day.

Or maybe an Angry Dome thread for random rants! :D

Probably to give perspective to the trailer.

That or the moon is basically one big early space travel museum.

Clancy Brown in Mass Effect is something I do not oppose at all. Shit, all we need now is Steve Blum and the rumble-off can begin.

Apparently ME:A is getting delayed a few months. The new and final release date will be announced tomorrow as part of the N7 Day celebration.

Man, I can't wait for them to show all of the content and media material they will NOT have for us tomorrow!

I wonder if they will delay it to March of 2017 again, because they forgot that they already delayed it last time.

Seriously, no one talks about that. The earlier this year they delayed the game from March 2017 to March 2017

Considering how little they've shown so far and how secretive everything's been, I wouldn't be surprised if the much discussed March 2017 release date couldn't be met and there was a delay of several months.

I recall people speculating about a big delay back in June or May, whenever that last teaser trailer was.

Whoever's keeping the trend of fading to black every third second alive needs to get hit by a semi truck. Repeatedly.

Prepare to be underwhelmed then. Because we're probably only gonna get that, and the usual stock celebratory blog post.

As for the trailer, it looked alot like a very generic "blowing shit up: in spaaaaaace!" they didn't even have ME music this time around, ffs!

You know what's funny? The main page has a shit ton more info than that trailer did.

https://www.masseffect.com/andromeda-in ... ub/welcome

The Andromeda Initiative is scheduled to launch. Privately funded and operating independently from the Systems Alliance, the Initiative’s mandate is to make a 600-year journey to the Andromeda galaxy in hopes of establishing a new home world. This impending galactic journey represents the most ambitious undertaking of any Milky Way race to date…

Yeah, that was way too much buildup for very little payoff. We learned nothing about the new setting that wasn't discerned from the Reddit leak way back when, no new gameplay, nothing about the story other than we go to Andromeda and get our shit kicked in.

Major takeaways I noticed:

- It looks like Papa Ryder kicks it early in the game when the Hyperion is attacked, and you have to step in and fill his shoes as the new Pathfinder/N7.

- Reapers. Seriously. That one tentacled thing in the sky? That's a Reaper. Or in some way associated with the Reapers. Either that, or Bioware's art department are incapable of making new things with a different design language. Seriously. Look at it.

- Protheans. God damned protheans. That guy in the trailer we don't see but hear talking sounds almost EXACTLY like Javik. Hell, it might actually BE Javik. In any event, no way it's a coincidence. Seems that the Remnant might indeed be descended from the Protheans, or Javik came along on the trip, or we found and woke up more protheans or SOMETHING, but it's looking like that race isn't as dead as we thought it was.

- Khet. Looks like that one guy who claimed to be a beta tester and said that these guys are a cross between Vorcha and Collectors was dead on. We don't see their faces dead on, but there's a screen where you do, and he's pretty much exactly right. Looks like their leader is going to be our new Saren, only this time we're the ones being hunted?

- "Our dreams of peace were shattered." Okay, what does that mean? Did you leave in the middle of the Reaper war? Was there some other war that followed we don't know about? Were you all burnt out after the invasion and decided to find somewhere else to live? God dammit, I would like some fucking context for these random things you're saying. It's been nearly five years, I feel a bit entitled.

All in all, we didn't learn anything new. Just more stuff to guess at.

I also don't like the design of the new Khet. Look more like something you'd see in Gears of War, or some other Unreal based game where everything was made in Zbrush. Looks amateurishly organic, really clashes with the rest of the game's art style. Maybe that's the point.

*Sigh.*

I was hoping for more.

Also, briefing video on the ME:A website specifically says... one Ark for each species. And 3 Arks only for the non-humans.

Aka, turian, asari, and salarian (turians confirmed by the devs, Salarian and Asari in the trailer). Plus the krogans sneaking in somehow.

Not wanting to be a Negative Nancy, but yeah. Adieu quarians.

So the Nexus looks like it's going to be our new Citadel.

"Begin a new future for ALL humanity."

Wouldn't surprise me if the Nexus is meant to be a super Relay.

This is VERY CLEARLY taking place after the Reaper War. Seriously, look at the scale of that thing to the Ark ships, which already dwarf Alliance Dreadnoughts. And now we have long range sensors that can detect planet habitability in Andromeda? Shit.

Yeah, let's bring a nigh uncontrollable warrior race to another galaxy and have them compete in a technology race instead of one that specifies in maintaining ships and developing technology. Goddamn, people are stupid...

Alec Ryder – Human Pathfinder

A seasoned galactic explorer, Alec Ryder was a member of Jon Grissom’s original task force which travelled through the Charon mass relay – the first encountered by humanity – in 2149. Ryder would go on to further prove his mettle by completing N7 training, solidifying himself as one of the Alliance military’s elite. Eventually recruited into the role of Pathfinder for the Andromeda Initiative, Ryder represents the tip of the spear in humanity’s efforts to find a new home in this unknown galaxy.

All the Arks AND the Nexus look like Citadels 2.0.

So either someone retro-engineered the Citadel and built a fleet of them OFF-SCREEN during the events of the original series, or it IS post-ME3 AND post-Destroy Ending, so there's that at least.

Well, it is a privately funded operation and it takes off in 2185, which is when Shepard and the Dirty Dozen are fighting the Collectors.

Also, I agree with this trailer being very underwhelming. Like it is a great trailer but I was expecting something juicier than just this.

I dunno, that tentacle thing (I assume you mean the one at 1:10) doesn't look Reaper like. The one at 1:13 doesn't look much like one either other than "is a machine" and "has tentacle shaped limb constructs".

The Prothean connection does seem to be present. It could be that we have one but if this thing launches before Javik is awakened by Shepard then I am uncertain.

Pause at the right moment (tail end of 1:06 and beginning of 1:07) and you'll see these flat-faced aliens stepping into these doors. Their eyes, or eye-like areas, seem to be high up with a long flat face and large flat mouth overhanging a bottom-lip and human-like jaw.

The Khet seem to look like They have Vorcha and Collector qualities in their design but they're not the only races which share the qualities seen. Apart from the skin tone looking as it does it's not really that bad.
The models are probably not too great but we've only seen brief glimpses and blurry shots. Until we get a clearer look I shall reserve judgement.

Scroll to the very bottom and you'll see it.

Andromeda Initiative launches in 2185.

During the events of ME2, one year before the Reaper Invasion.

God.

Fucking.

Dammit.

So a side story, based on exploration.
Maybe.

Anyway as a side note;
I know a lot of us are bummed there seems to be no quarians but I ask you, during the events of 2185 where were the quarians exactly?

Travelling from system to system in the Terminus Systems. Not allowing outside contact unless for trading or they need help.
Now, how would a project like this had invited them along if it HAD begun during this time?
The only way Shepard saw the quarians was because Tali was called back to the Flotilla.
So that could be why no Quarians and they went to the Salarians.
