I don't like that kind of retcons, but if JKR does make it a thing abit more integral to the whole DD backstory, and add some elements of interest with his rivaly with Grindelwald I'm gonna be fine with it. As well. It was just an example of how Pottermore, that was supposed to be a way for her to interact with the fanbase and get in some story and lore elements they liked basically became a huge "fuck you I do what I want!". Which is absolutely in her right to do... but why bother asking for that level of interaction with your fans, if you're gonna ignore them almost completely anyway?

And DC did it with Alan Scott, the original Green Lantern. Because it was one of the few Golden Age superheroes that didn't have an obvious female love interest around him all the time.

And it was stupid and pointless. Especially since Iceman is the younger version coming from an alternate timeline meaning they didn't even have the guts to retcon the main, canonic version of the character.

Maybe it's because I'm a white male living in a country where everything for ever was geared towards my race and sex, but I don't seem to grasp the importance of having someone to represent certain or all aspects of society, at least as they relate to sex . Bought a new custom built computer from Overclockers because this piece of shit is constantly coming up with new problems and is so goddamn slow. Upgrading it would cost about as much as a new computer, so I figure, why not go all out. Got a GTX 1080, 32 GB RAM, SSD and everything. Cost me about 2700€, but I think it'll be worth it.

Yeah. I'm so tired of getting computers that are either obsolete after two years (fun fact, the processor I have now was discontinued about a month after I bought my current computer) or don't have enough juice to play anything at decent settings. Also. RAM. I want more of it. Hate how I can't have some programs and a game open at the same time without one affecting the other.

The only problem I'm facing is importing all my settings and files to the new computer, since I also bought Windows 7 Professional, because fuck Windows 10 while this computer has W7 Ultimate. I don't know if the backups I've made will work.

I was also egged on by the fact that the hard drive that has my game libraries is starting to show its age.

For gaming 16gb of RAM should be sufficient, unless you're also doing editing, streaming and 3d modelling and animations all at the same time as gaming....

An SSD is just GODLY though, pretty much essential these days.
Hell I am considering grabbing a big one next year to shove steam onto.

The 1080 though. I am not sold on them yet. I have a 970 and it's okay for now, once it becomes low LOOOOOW tier I'll upgrade my whole rig.

The rig I ordered is going to have 32 GB RAM, so I'm good on that front. I'm not doing animations or something like that, but it'd be nice to have the option. Sure as hell will be faster than the measly 8 GB RAM I have now. It's going to be DDR4 too (this one's DDR3), so potential upgrades are an option, even though I doubt I'll need SLI or anything like that in the near future.

People I asked about when buying my previous computers always tried to make me go for the mediocre stuff because I'm more often than not using the computer for gaming. In my experience, that only leads to having to upgrade a lot afterwards, so I might as well get it right from the start. Sure, the stuff I went with is far from the best, but I doubt it's going to lag behind next year or the year after that. Plus, there are plenty of games that I haven't played yet because of specs limitations.

The hardware is no problem. It's the software that's making me nervous. I know how fast and easy one can get fucked over by some corrupted/misplaced files.
