Signs we're getting old: Making a short jump off a 16" deck, and a knee going out for the rest of the day.
Though it might also be some sort of tendon problem I've been ignoring for 9 years. Not mutually exclusive.

I had a curious thing happen to me the other night since we discussed listening while we sleep. I'm staying at my parents for a few nights, so I'm sleeping in a different room. It's in the attic practically, so it's hot and I have a bunch of fans going, so it's loud. Well I knew this going to sleep and I have my usual dreams where a lot happen and stuff, but when I woke up I realized I had a few quick beats of pure silence until my ears turned on and the sound of the fans immediately filled my ears. I've experienced this before. So this means my active listening turns off when I'm unconscious. Therefore I'm unable to hear anything when I'm sleeping. Only noises that force me to wake up. Like dangerous noises.

I'm reading Marcus Aurelius and he discusses a lot how man lives for the sake of each other. We are all a part of a whole body. Man is in nature a social creature and being social IS our nature and in our healthiest faculty we should strive for connections with one another. He also constantly discusses how change is everything and everything changes. We receive a wound, we heal and continue our lives. One thing he wrote that struck me is this: Don't think about something bad happening to you as misfortune, but how handling it nobly is in itself good fortune. As long as you either know who you are and what your place is or are striving to know and accept change along the way then you're a pretty good individual and human. Whatever you're missing will probably show up, or maybe you still have it, but lost sight of it.

I've noticed that effect, but only if I've been very heavily asleep, which only drinking accomplishes. Normally I sleep very shallowly, which probably explains why "a good night's rest" doesn't happen much of ever. For me, it's not sound though, instead sight. Followed by the body in general. Hearing is always "on," though I always run a room fan when I sleep, so it does get filtered to a constant background noise, I'm never not aware of it.

Youtube insists on recommending me a video series about a man who bought a grocery store lobster, but chose to raise it as a pet instead of eating it. It's an interesting few videos, from the first time in the tank to molting and beyond. The rubber bands on the claws had apparently done significant damage to the lobster's ability to pinch, to the point of nearly being crippled at first, and even months later, returned to normal function, it still has some signs of damage. The man continues to raise it, transferred it to a bigger tank, and given lobsters can live over a century, if not indefinitely with human intervention, it could theoretically outlive the man who rescued it from a pot of boiling water. However, it is still just a lobster.
Do you get my meaning?

Perhaps, that's not an area I really shine at.
The lobster is both special and not. Even though it was given a second chance and tremendous attention and affection and to the outside viewer it is remarkable, to the lobster it's just continuing to be a lobster. It hasn't changed.
Am I remotely close?

The setting's Satan (Jailer would be Super Satan) jammed his personal sword into the most vulnerable part of a growing world soul.
It doesn't need to be a focus of an expansion, but you could do something to wrap it up. Have the Cenarion Circle do the Holding Hands of Friendship ritual, with a rep you can grind out, for a short cutscene before phasing out the sword or something. Tada.

Exactly right. So it is good to aspire to maximize what you have, but always with the recognition of what you are. If you don't know that, then what are you improving on?
To give an example, when I read about people experiencing emotions, I'm struck by how that's very different from how I do. I like the metaphor of being outside on a winter's night, and pressing your face against a window of a home with a crackling fire inside. You feel the warmth radiating through the glass, but you're not experiencing the fire. You know the fire is there, you see, feel proof of it, but you don't fully take it in. So when I say to someone I love them, it's true, not because I'm experiencing the emotional symptoms of love, but that the evidence I should is there. It doesn't seem like a lie if I say it. The crackling fire is there, "I" am simply outside.
To bring it back around to Great Men of Rome, he's correct, with that caveat. I could learn all the technical aspects of making music, but not the "soul." And vice-versa, a highly creative, emotional person would wither trying to do a rote, logical job.

Lacks the ostentatious glory of the Custodes Contemptor, but that is how all things should be. It's a much cooler design than the standard.

So, looks like I have a little bit of an umbilical hernia.
No pain or anything right now so it's likely just fat pushing through but still gonna get looked at by the doctor, sadly can't happen until tuesday because of my work and bank holidays.
Fuck my life.
They'll probably ask me to lose weight before any actual surgery can be done.
just something to keep an eye on now.

Uh, yeah, those are not fun, I also had one a decade ago and had to get surgery (got a net implanted in front of the hernia) to have it fixed. Luckily I had lost some weight at the time, so it was pretty okay. Still the only surgery I had gotten done as an adult and I hope for it to stay so a while. Although he recovery wasn't that bad, three days in the hospital afterwards and then some careful movement and food for a while.
I discovered I had the thing when one day I had just fucking terrible pain in my stomach area, because some part of my guts got pushed out so far that they got stuck in the hernia and I didn't know what was happening. A friend brought me to the hospital and they fixed me up (just by pushing the bit of gut correctly back) and showed me how to deal with the problem if it occurred again until the surgery.

A healthy body recovers from surgery more quickly. And also consider all the other plusses that comes along with it. So please do and best wishes on any surgery and getting through this.

Yeah, I guess so. It's the same with some people reading a situation really quickly, like whether person C likes person A after observing a few quick gestures while I, person B, couldn't see anything and am oblivious even though I witnessed the exact same thing.
Speaking of music that lacks soul, I've been very busy writing lately. However I haven't forgotten your game project. How has that been coming along?

For better or worse, I have a hiatal hernia, bit of stomach pushed through the diaphragm. No idea when it happened, but the symptoms were so bad I thought I was dying, multiple times, until I spent the better part of a year bouncing between doctors until someone figured it out. Thankfully, whenever I can afford to have it fixed, assuming it doesn't get worse, should be a fairly simple fix of poking it back through and making a knot with my guts, or a mesh, because having on in a high-usage external area seems quite a bit worse.

The main reason I'm sure I'm not a high-functioning autist is because I can (generally) tell those things. The flipside is that I'm the equivalent of a blank in 40k.
Writing what, if I may ask? Made some good progress, for a simple demo, got a little map built, some tiles, a character, movement controls, collision, hadn't done any sound work yet. With work picking up, I'll be gone from Sunday until Friday/Saturday at the shore again in fact, haven't had the energy to do anything productive lately. Would love to finish something by the end of June, a half-year goal.

Probably a mesh (which I presume is the same thing I called a net), which is what I got. And, yeaaaah, when it happened to me I felt like I was gonna die as well. Not fun. The solution was actually pretty easy (just push it back a bit), but not when you don't know what is happening and your stomach is on absolutely fire, it frightens you.

Yeah, i am not in any massive amounts of pain, just discomfort so I guess it's just fatty tissue pushing through the abdominal wall.
If it is my guts it's not trapped in if that's the case.
Yeah the wait times are long on the NHS anyway, so by the time I am going to be seen I should have lost some weight.
SciFlyBoy wrote:A healthy body recovers from surgery more quickly. And also consider all the other plusses that comes along with it. So please do and best wishes on any surgery and getting through this.
Oh, yeah I know that, but the NHS wait is so long that it basically pushes it back further, meaning the longer to live with it and the longer to have something go wrong/worse.
Thanks.

I mean mine's an umbilical one and I don't have any of that feeling, just tight knot feelings and pressure around and a distension inside my belly button. Not massive or anything. So if I had the symptoms you had I'd be in hospital right now.

Poor start to the work trip. Dad fell down some stairs yesterday, mobile, but hurt. I have to pick up the slack now. Hope you guys are facing better weeks.

Music. Orch/synth hybrid anime fighting music to be exact.
I've made some alternate sketches from my demo piece I sent you a long while back, but haven't really come up with anything I'd like to share with someone who has ears. For me it's easy to go big, but quite difficult to go small.

I would rather see some remasters or at least make the old games work on newer systems first.

I am so hyped you wouldn't believe it.
Hell, with Raven (hopefully) getting out of the Call of Duty mines and Squeenix finally getting rid of that shit they constantly mismanage, this is a damn good year for gaming!
