Also, in regards to the surprisingly dark material in Pokemon S&M, my boy Guzma was a victim of some pretty hefty child abuse. That home on Route 2 where the father lives alone is heavily implied to be Guzma's childhood home. It's a bit more subtle in the English translation, but in the original Japanese script and apparently some of the other European languages, it is not so subtly said that Guzma's father beat and verbally berated him. Those broken and bent golf clubs in the corner of the house aren't evidence of a poor golfer, either.

Its more that Japan doesnt give a fuck, and the original description most people saw was basically an unfiltered japanese translation.

The U.S. versions of the game just mention pheromones existing.

I went with the Grass starter (became BFFs at the first Poke Center) and managed to snag a Pichu just outside the area around the house along with some of the basic and crappy mons I won't bother with once I get more than ten feet away from the house. Off to a good start so far. I really like that you can choose whenever you want to keep your freshly captured mon in your party or send it off to a box. There are plenty of convenient changes to the old formula that I'm noticing and I think it makes the experience even more enjoyable. I mean, the little ceremony for picking your starter was cute as hell.

Went ahead and purchased DOOM since it was on sale for $20. This will be the first DOOM game I've ever played.
