Been playing Senran Kagura Estival Versus on the PS4. It's a simple game, but I like how each of the characters really has her own way of fighting. Some of them (Hanabi) you really have to hold down the attack button to get her to swing, like for a few seconds, but you can really feel the weight of her hammer. Unlike Hikage, which is super fast with her small dagger. All in all a pretty good game considering you're a ninja girl hitting other ninja girl's clothes off.

The weapons in Red Dead Redemption 2 are infuriating.
Why the hell would a gun that involves having to individually cycle out each spent cartridge casing, before individually placing a new one in, reload FASTER then a gun that is top-break, and dumps all spent casings at once?
They did so much research about so many aspects, but they completely blew it with weapons.

Knowing Rockstar, they knew damn well how those weapons work in real life. Try reloading a weapon from a partial magazine in GTA V. Your character racks the slide/bolt every single time in every reload animation, but you will eject an unspent cartridge from the weapon anyway because you already have one in the chamber.
They likely did that to balance it against the actual damage done. Or they saw a few westerns and tried to replicate them.

Right, but none of that explains why the best handgun in that game was, in reality, a gun so weak it couldn't penetrate the skull of a man trying to kill himself. Several times.

Rockstar Dev: This gun looks pretty cool.
Team Lead: You know that episode of the Simpsons where they're making fun of Tom Sawyer and everyone pulls out a Derringer, gets into a gun fight, and no one got hurt? That's this gun.
Rockstar Dev: But it looks cool.
Team Lead: ...Make it powerful. We're undersold on controversy in this game anyway. It feels weird to go without it.

Ah, snow. Lovely substance. I do enjoy it. Less so when it comes to clearing slush from an uneven sidewalk, but hey.
Keeping foods I like nearby is dangerous. Got a small box of snacks from CostCo and Amazon, been rapidly consuming it in addition to 3 meals a day. Apparently I'm skinny for lack of food, because I'll put the pounds right on if I had a constant supply of my preferences. Though I really don't care for sugar, so I can't see keeping up this pace.

Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
Do you think that any given entry in a series owes an explanation to newcomers? I mean, if you jump into title number 3 in a series, do you feel the game should explain things to you in as natural as a way possible so that anyone is brought up to speed? Or is it on the person for being mad enough to do this and that them being lost and confused is entirely on them?
If you suspect that I'm talking about Kingdom Hearts 3 again, you are entirely correct. I have mixed feelings about that idea myself. I feel that any story should be able to carry itself, regardless of where it is in a series. I also feel that you should have some degree of familiarity with what you're getting yourself into.

If Metal Gear Solid 4 can do a good enough job by providing me with essentially an entire Metal Gear Wikipedia to the point I wasn't THAT confused, then I dont think ANYONE has an excuse to to provide a proper explanation to newcomers.

well a bit of an explanation at least enough that most get what is going on and isn't completely lost.

Answering to both, kinda.
I was always the person who had the view of "if you're jumping into a series in the middle of the run expect to be lost and not know what's going on or the reason things are the way they are" and had disdain for people who complained at jumping in and complaining they didn't know what was going on without doing previous research.
You can have a decent story without background knowledge and it is possible but obviously the bulk of the weight will be gone.
I mean if you just start at Return of the King you can get a decent story of people all gathering and fighting an evil but you won't know why The evil is so bad, why Frodo is carrying the Ring, why the ring is important past "it's the mcguffin", etc.
I mean with games you could have a quick "previously on X game series" but it's a little 90's TV for my tastes.
But now as I try to get into some other stuff I am finding that if you limit yourself to having to begin at the start the bigger something is/the older it is and the more content it creates the more it alienates those trying to get in, which I've been on the wrong end off a lot of times.
Plus the snobbery of "not knowing it all" is annoying as all fuck.

Then again, Kingdom Heart is a special case, since there are like a dozen games across multiple console generations. Metal Gear Solid at least has a few remakes that kept it somewhat relevant.

Oh man. Critical Role managed to reach their Kick-Starter goal for an animation that costs $750 000 in less than two hours. Now it's at $4 000 000 and they have 44 out of 45 days to go.

Yeah, that's even worse when it's all on old hardware.
To this day I still can't get a legit Mew to the latest gen of pokemon games as I don't have 3 other DS's and all the games!

Many like watching Critical Role and even more think it contributed a lot to making tabletop games popular again.
I'm personally not too much of a fan. It has its fun moments, but it has its equal share of annoying moments. The Team Four Star guys have had much more success in that field, I think. That might be my bias talking, though.
Also, the animation is getting made by people like Titmouse Inc. They made/helped make things like Avatar The Last Airbender, Metalocalypse, The Venture Bros, Space Dandy, etc.

Oh the TFS games are so damn fun. Kinda bummed by what happened to the main one, but the two games by Lanipator and Takahata101 are still going really well and I enjoy alot listening to them while I draw stuff.

meh, I have played Destiny 1 and 2 + Warframe quite frankly from the Demo of Anthem I played I thought Destiny and Warframe did it leap and bounds better and those games came out long before Anthem, even though they also had their flaws they fixed them, Anthem isn't there yet.
Outside of design and the flying mechanic Anthem as of right now, don't have much to offer, it might change once it get more content and they fix the issues the game has, but then again the game was never for me in the first place, still I hope EA doesn't cut it's life support if they think it's going to be little more then a money hole, that would be sad for the fans the game does have.

I think in most cases, I would say no. But there are always exceptions to the rule.
Back in the day, I first starting playing the Legacy of Kain games without playing the first Blood Omen or the first Soul Reaver, having missed those games initially, but the instruction book of SR2 contained a nice summary of the plot, setting, characters, and events of the previous entries that gave me enough information and context to understand what was going on. Having that was a lifesaver, since the LoK storyline involves time travel, paradoxes, philosophy, deception, themes of destiny and free will, Gnostic symbolism, and dozens of Machiavellian plots and power plays all smashing together in a giant complex narrative, on top of all the vampires and vengeance quests and soul eating.

I would totally commit murders for a Legacy of Kain series HD remake.
Even if it's from Soul Reaver on wards (TBH the first Blood Omen isn't exactly necessary in terms of gameplay so maybe find a way to fold that story content in elsewhere.)

I would perfer a resident evil style 2 kind of remake for the Legacy of Kain series.
The series could use it to reach a new audience.
