Looks cool, but I doubt it's something for me, since I'm not nearly as much of an outdoor guy. Not to mention that I'd constantly be afraid of losing parts of the damn thing.

That and connectivity issues, data transferring and save data, and if the tech inside it is actually any good or not.
A cool concept but I don't think it'd work.
I mean I am glad they're not restricting their games to their portable devices now, but this is kinda...well it looks to be trying to be a handheld console....which wont go well as there will either be only a few bad games for it that are cross platform, or there will be more exclusives than ever.

EDIT: Don't get me wrong I am suuuuper excited for this piece of kit, it's very promising of nintendo to innovate like this now, rather than tinker with the few they had.

Okay, I have to say that Nintendo now got my attention. For a gimmick-y systeem, that looks like a very cool one.

But there's also alot that could go wrong with it, so I'm not gonna go "Mind-blow! Preordered nao OMG!!!1!!1"

I'm definately more intrigued and interested in how the Nintendo Switch is gonna turn out to be than in any overpriced and overhyped VR set everyone else keep trying to desperately sell as "the future of gaming", though.

I dont understand why people keep saying the Splatoon game in the Switch trailer is just a port. The characters are clearly different. You dont have "hair" options in the original game.

Looks like I have a working vacation next week. Down to the Joisey Shoire to paint some rich peoples' shore house. Which wouldn't be so bad, except we're weeks into the off season so there's going to be _nothing_ going on down there. Hopefully using my phone as a router holds up so I don't lose my mind during the week. Upshot is we're getting late into the painting season, so this is a good cash cow for the upcoming drought.

They are "Enhanced ports" apparently.
So basically the same game but with just a bunch of added features.
Makes sense as that gives a reason for people who had them on the Wii U a reason to get them again.

I just Hope Bayonetta 2 is somewhere on that list to be ported over, or at least have them confirm that there is digital backward compatibility.

Easy enough to learn if you're patient. Going slow to learn how to cut a neat line, not getting paint on everything, and properly preparing surfaces is most of the learning process, the rest is jack-of-all-trade stuff.

Quick question for the statisticians (Spartan) among us.

An event occurs. It has a 90% chance to succeed, 10% to fail, baseline. Every time it succeeds, the failure rate increases by 22%, let's say.

So 10%->32%->54%->76%->98%->100%

On average, how many times would the event succeed before failing if attempted, let's say, a million times? And then, of all attempts, how many fail/succeed total? My gut feeling is that over a long enough time, to eliminate streaks as statistically significant, that you'd get a failure at the third attempt most of the time, because it's a coin flip tilted slightly against success, and almost never hit the 6th attempt, because you've had to succeed against the previous 5 attempts, 3 of which are statistically unlikely. But I'm also historically a lackluster math student and several years out of school, so unintuitive math rules might be in play here.

Outright, 10% of attempts fail. So of the 90% that make it to the next step, 32% fail. So roughly a third, we're down to 60% of attempts by the time we hit the third step. Slightly more than half fail there, but we'll round to half, we're at 30% of attempts make it fourth. Three-quarters fail there, we're down to 7.5% of attempts. 98% fail here, so I'll assume that's < 1% making it to the guaranteed failure.

In certain, specific situations. It's a crutch too often though, and it makes repainting areas that people laboriously taped off at one point a huge pain in the ass.
