Oh, that was pretty much the whole show. Except for the latter half of this last season.
I have a Japan dream, too. It's that an anime production company invites me to work with one of their composers and pay to have me live there for 6 months.

Well I have played God of War and well it's great (I wouldn't say it's 10/10, but it's pretty close).
it's more RPGish then the ones that came before and that's a good thing since Kratos have been in a lot of games with him being angry, seeking revenge and basically being a badass in combat.
it's basically the last of us expect I think it's 10 times better in the narrative then TLOU was, but then again the story is longer and the characters grow more which helps a lot.
Somethings I learned in the in game so spoiler time.

In two hundred years, what kind of attractions do you think we'd have on Mars? Think people will go to the first bar on Mars and eat at the first Martian pizzeria? People would take a tour trolley around Olde Towne Mars and tell ghost stories about the historic martian governor's mansion? Maybe there would be 168 bars on famous Musk street next to the first man made martian beach? I for one would visit the Spirit Rover monument.
(I just got back from Key West and thought about how a touristy town on future Mars would look)

All jokes aside, it didn't actually arrive into space, just very high into the atmosphere. So it's probably safely edible.

Yeah, I was looking up the Van Allen Belts and they start WAYYYYYY out there. I wonder if you put a marshmallow up there if it will expand then freeze and stay expanded as it comes back down.

This is just a WIP, but as someone who hadn't even touched a 3D rendering program before mid-January, let alone study things like textures or lighting effects, I think I'm doing pretty good. Only took four hours to render too!

Close, but I'm using 3DS Max. Right now, I'm guessing my way through the different maps on the textures a bit.
Also, I tested some animation and while it didn't turn out to be super impressive or even good, I found the process to be surprisingly entertaining for me. Making textures is obnoxious as all hell once the project becomes crowded and increases render time and becomes guess work, but it's somewhat cathartic to see the start and the end of a motion and try to fill the gaps when I'm watching videos about animations.

If I can recommend anything it's learn how to make tiled textures for if you're going to make landscapes, buildings, etc.
The real bugger is anything intricate.
I'm rapidly dreading when I'll have to texture this Quarian OC model I am working on.
BUT that being said I am also not sure if I am going to use the fancy "paint on" textures for my diffuse maps and leave the rest to traditional methods.

Funny you should mention that, because I need to do both landscapes and buildings in an assignment I have. So far, I've just gone outside and taken a picture of a cement block for the building, but I think I have to do more than that.

Well that would depend on what the brief is.
For example in Uni we had a brief of creating a bunch of low poly models/scenes using low poly models combining 3 items from a list. And these were SUPER low poly, like no more than 600 polys to a model.
The list contained stuff like;
church
bones
coral
car
operating theatre
tress
building
concrete
etc
Random stuff, y'know?
So naturally people did stuff like "oh I'll make a street and that'll include concrete, car and building in the brief".
And you got about 16+ variations of streets and buildings and houses and all that kind of stuff.
Myself...I went another angle.
I chose coral, operating theatre and bioluminescence as my 3 words/themes.
I made something like this; (spoil tagged to save space)
► Show Spoiler
And apparently this was the most unique set in the class as I had not only included all three elements required, but I'd combined them into something new, namely an organic corridor, washroom, operating room and post-op.
So there is "sticking to the brief" and sticking to the brief.

Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
Well, my course is more set on having the pictures look as photorealistic as possible with all the lighting bouncing off the right material, refracting or bleeding through to a certain depth, which isn't helping me at all.
Also, only 600 polys? Damn. That one I showed has over 45 000 and it's not even done yet. I'll probably cheat a little and slap a picture of a museum or some shit on the planes in the background to make it look a little more believable. Still too dark, though. Which is infuriating, because not only does it have a light directly above it, but I also can't use the proper effects to make it light up good, because the engine gets all pissy when I try to use them.

Ok. I am in a programming class. Visual basic. Its a fairly easy class, and involves coding with a UI.
I have the worst, most unhelpful, instructor of any instructor I have ever had.
Here is the email chain I had with this guy. Reminder THIS IS A COLLEGE PROFESSOR.

Asking a simple formatting question shouldn't be a lesson in emotional abuse.

Urgh, I hate petty bullshit teachers like that.
All you're doing is asking about making it easier for them and they're all "oh can't be bothered".
Also that bullshit about not checking student's code outside of school hours is just absolute bullshit. That's a one way ticket to having all your students not want to bother with your course/lessons.

Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
"But I do not have the time" Oh, fuck off with that. My teacher runs a similar excuse, only his is legitimate, since only one of the students' projects can take literally the entire day to render properly and there are often dozens of objects and modifiers in play to fit the student's vision. The difference is that he's there if we don't know how certain things work or if he notices a consistent problem, because it's HIS DAMN JOB.
If the teacher's so inept that he can't convey the structure of the assignment in a way that's easy to comprehend, then it's his fault if it doesn't fit his criteria.

I would just like to add.
I sent him the executable for the program. I didn't want him to look over my code. I wanted him to skim over the tabs of the program to tell me if it was formatted in a way he wanted.
The entire process would have taken less then a minute.

Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
The last time one of my tutors did something like this was in secondary school Year 9 (8th Grade for US conversion) and that was seen as a really shitty thing to do.
Hell my University coding tutor wasn't even a fully paid teacher and was basically doing a paid teaching course at the time and was technically nothing more than an assistant by the school's standards and he would jump at the chance for people to ask shit about the code. Yeah if you keep making the same mistakes he'd get annoyed and point you to Google after a while, but it'd take, like, 10+ iteration of the same mistake. Plus he'd set up a server for all our work to go into and every week would check every piece of work in there too see if it had been updated and altered in any way. Then at the weekly meetings he'd sit there and discuss what you needed to do if you were stuck. This was on top of being available at nearly all times to be approached with questions, requests for extra help or advise on the code.
And he was one of the less "visibly enthusiastic" tutors.

[[ "No, winter is not coming… not in 2018, at least. You’re going to have to keep waiting for THE WINDS OF WINTER. You will, however, be able to return to Westeros this year, as I suggested back over on Live Journal.
Archmaester Gyldayn has at last completed and delivered the first half of his monumental history of the Targaryen kings of Westeros, FIRE & BLOOD, and Bantam Spectra and HarperCollins Voyager will be releasing the hardcover on November 20, I am thrilled to say. I’ve seen the archmaester’s manuscript. Since it was handwritten on vellum with a quill pen, he required my help in transcribing the text to a more modern format: WordStar 4.0, on a DOS computer. Took a while, but a few weeks ago I was able to ship it off to my editors on both sides of the Atlantic, and to my foreign representatives for all my publishers around the world. Some of my foreign publishers will be releasing their editions simultaneously with the US and UK hardbacks; others may need to wait for translation from the Common Tongue.
It’s a hefty book, almost a thousand manuscript pages (okay, 989, if you want to be precise). That’s not quite as long as A GAME OF THRONES or any of the later volumes in A SONG FOR ICE AND FIRE, but there’s a lot of reading there, and I hope you’ll enjoy it. This first volume covers all the Targaryen kings from Aegon I (the Conquerer) to the regency of Aegon III (the Dragonbane), along with their wives, wars, siblings, children, friends, rivals, laws, travels, and sundry other matters. For those not up on your Westerosi history, that’s Aegon I, Aenys, Maegor the Cruel, Jaehaerys I (the Conciliator), Viserys I, Aegon II (and Rhaenyra), and Aegon III (the regency). Oh, and there are dragons too. Lots of dragons.
Of course, the story doesn’t end with the regents of Aegon III. There is a lot more history to come, and Archmaester Gyldayn will get to all that too, in FIRE & BLOOD, Volume Two. But that one is a few years down the pike. So don’t get impatient. Gyldayn will get to it eventually, but he’s old, and so am I, and we both have other projects to tend to as well. The Citadel puts a lot of demands on an archmaester’s time.
Oh, and I almost forgot the best part: FIRE AND BLOOD will be illustrated throughout. No, it won’t be a huge coffee table book with art on every page, like A WORLD OF ICE & FIRE… but there will be lots of lots of interior artwork. Think more along the lines of the special anniversary edition of A GAME OF THRONES that we did a few years ago, or the gorgeous hardcover of A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS, the Dunk & Egg collection. We’ll have more than 75 black & white illustrations by artist Doug Wheatley. And here’s a peek at the US cover, plus an illustration by Doug Wheatley:

And if I may set down Archmaester Gyldayn’s quill for a while… Long-time fans and readers of my Not A Blog know the entire history of FIRE & BLOOD, but there may be some of you out there who do not. This is the book that I used to jokingly refer to as the GRRMarillion (or the first half of it, at least); that is to say, my version of Tolkien’s mammoth history of Middle Earth. In my case, the focus is on the Targaryens, from Aegon’s Conquest to Robert’s Rebellion (so, unlike JRRT, I will not be covering the creation of the world and any wars amongst the angels). These histories began a few years back as a series of sidebars intended for THE WORLD OF ICE & FIRE, our huge illustrated concordance, but I got carried away (as I tend to do) and before long the sidebars got so long they were threatening to overwhelm the entire book, so we pulled them out of that volume… and saved them for this one.
Portions of the book have previously appeared here and there. The chapter about Aegon’s Conquest was published, pretty much as written, in THE WORLD OF ICE & FIRE. The section about the reigns of Aegon’s sons Aenys and Maegor came out last year as “Sons of the Dragon,” in Gardner Dozois’s anthology THE BOOK OF SWORDS, and an abridged version of same was in THE WORLD OF ICE & FIRE. Material from the chapters about the struggle for succession after Jaehaerys I and the Dance of the Dragons after Viserys I was published in an abridged form as “The Rogue Prince” (in ROGUES) and “The Princess and the Queen” (in DANGEROUS WOMEN), and in a much more severely abridged form in THE WORLD OF ICE & FIRE… but FIRE & BLOOD will mark the first time that full, unabridged texts of Archmaester Gyldayn’s histories have been published. In addition, of course, there are hundreds of pages of new material which has never appeared before in any form, abridged or unabridged.
I do want to stress… indeed, I want to shout… that FIRE & BLOOD is not a novel. This is not a traditional narrative and was never intended to be. Some of my fans have objected to the term “fake history” that I’ve bandied about in past blog posts and announcements in reference to “The Princess and the Queen” and “Sons of the Dragon” and the like. Very well; let’s call this one “imaginary history” instead. The essential point being the “history” part. I love reading popular histories myself, and that’s what I was aiming for here. Not historical fiction, not fantasy, no… but something more akin to Thomas B. Costain’s monumental (and wonderfully entertaining) four-volume history of the Plantagenets. (But with dragons. Did I mention the dragons?)
So: not a novel. Everyone clear on that? (Though there are enough stories here for twenty novels. Battles, bloodshed, betrayals, love, lust, horror, religious wars, politics, incest, historical revisionism, all the fun stuff). Oh, and I should also say… as most of you know, HBO is presently developing a number of different prequels to GAME OF THRONES. I know I am going to be asked whether those shows are going to be based on material from FIRE & BLOOD. It’s a logical question. The only answer I can give is… ah, well, no one is sure yet, and anyway, I am not allowed to say. So let’s move that to the side.
The important thing is: NOVEMBER 20. Mark it down on your calendars. (If you enjoy imaginary history). Archmaester Gyldayn is hanging up his quill for a while. As for me, I’m returning once again to THE WINDS OF WINTER." ]]

I'm kind of surprised he's still alive, really. The man's twice my size and at least twice my age. And I'm 30 and overweight.

I sent him the executable for the program. I didn't want him to look over my code. I wanted him to skim over the tabs of the program to tell me if it was formatted in a way he wanted.
The entire process would have taken less then a minute.
UPDATE
Mother fucker didn't even come to class today!

I'm at a healthy weight and relatively fit and I'd count it lucky to live to 80, that man is not going to make it.

And this is why I could never work in places where you have to show absolute deference and respect to your superior.

If I literally turn in nothing for the rest of the class, I'll still pass with a 74.
Failing isn't going to happen.
