Also, the MP character selection menu in that image looks abysmal from a sheer UI/UX standpoint. How do you tell what class you're selecting before you're selecting it?
Also also, one of those Krogan was confirmed to be female.
Also also also the multiplayer beta test was cancelled.
Also also also also "some things are best left to be discovered :)" when asked about a shot of the quarian classes.

Edit: The reason for the MP test being cancelled is:

"Sorry we won't have MPTT. I know many were looking forward to it (as were we). Long story but right decision for how close we r to live. MEA MP has had the most ext user testing we've ever done. +GameChangers program. And retail console closed alpha earlier in new year. MP very alive :) (& awesome). You'll see more of it soon incl play it at PAX. And still fully avail on EA/Origin Access ahead of launch"

Counterpoint.

Does he sound like a relatively serious salarian politician to you?

Also, when half the roster consists of humans IN ANOTHER GALAXY, you're doing something wrong.

I really hope quarians are around in Andromeda. It'd be the first Mass Effect game to not feature them otherwise and that'd feel weird.

Even worse. Where's the Angara?

Speaking of which, they really didn't think that name through. It's the name of a Siberian river and a Russian rocket. Unless they think Russia really is that alien to us.

I guess they're gonna do the same as the ME3 multiplayer? So lots of humans and generic classes first, and more aliens with unique skills later...?

It still sucks we have to be so damn human-centric tho...

Apparently their charts show that most of the demographic cares THAT MUCH more about humans than they do aliens...

In a science fiction game...

Set in another galaxy...

It should be pointed out that there is a scroll bar on the left side. So although the majority of that screen shows human classes, we don't know how far that scrollbar goes. We could be seeing only a third of available classes, with numerous Angara, Turian, Salarian, Krogan, Quarian, and other classes simply not shown at this point.

Still, we'll get a better look during PAX East, though even then I doubt we'll get to see all the race options for MP.

The LOWEST common denominator.

The same type that likes the Bay-former movies.

We'll probably get the last Ai trailer and some new gameplay trailer and a cinematic, maybe.

I agree with a lot of his points and ME2 was indeed plenty unbalanced in terms of gameplay and story, but it's still easily my favorite game in the trilogy because it wasn't as gloomy as ME3, but also not as stilted as ME1. The tone, while inconsistent, still managed to find a middle ground that I thoroughly enjoyed. Well, that and it came out during a heavy winter when I had little better to do with my time and was struggling with depression so that I'd cling to any amount of happiness that I could find.

Mostly because the characters acted like they had...well, character with personal goals and interests, instead of the walking, talking encyclopedias they were in ME1.

Also, THIS is how you criticize a game. By inspecting both the good and the bad sides of it in a manner that is flowing and informative instead of jumping from place to place and not just take a jab at something and say that it's trash or that something is simply awesome. Looking at the game on a larger scale and as a whole is how you do it, not nitpick about almost completely trivial could-have-been features for several videos.

Speaking of which, I've heard him do nothing but complain about the technical or story faults of the Mass Effect games, yet smudboy is one of the faster people to put out a video about them when more content is available. I have no idea why he even bothers any more.

Not as far as I remember.

Would have been nice if they gave us a few different choices for names, not just Scott and Sara.

Kinda nitpicky I guess, but would have liked to have some choice in the matter.

You CAN change your name, but then they'll refer to you as "Ryder".

Same as Shepard with John and Jane, so....yeah no difference.

Yeah, if you have the base names they refer to you by the first name, if not you get Ryder.

So you CAN choose another first name, but you get the Ryder treatment.

To be quite honest, the exploration part looks pretty good. I'm not watching the first quarter hour, I'd like to get in as unspoiled as possible.

Well, the video was mostly good, but he got quite a few things wrong (for example, why Zaeed is not a good leader... everyone always gets killed in his war stories, except himself) and there were points where I thought the guy was just bitchily nitpicking to fill up the video.

If he only thing you are well known for and which gives you views is complaining about Mass Effect, I guess that's what you gonna do to maintain your viewership. I tried to watch a few of his videos, but they really are only about complaining about everything at length.

I may have to do another full playthrough of ME2 and ME3 before ME:A launches. Too much tedium in ME 1 to make it worth it.

I dunno. I think the Nomad would be a hell of a lot more fun to drive if it could be upgraded to have an ejection system that launched you like a cannon ball at the press of a button.

So I'll say this combat looks strong and I like it, as for story I'm not expecting greatness.
