I hear that a lot in the trades. Met more than one carpenter that quite literally laced every single sentence with "fuck, fuckin', fucking." Versatile word, but a bare minimum of restraint is appreciated, especially if the fookin' bosses are around.

Season 1: Starts out mixed, gets really good, than craps out at the end.
Season 2: Bad, with the exception of a fantastic two-parter in the middle, some admittedly neat visuals, and the introduction of a few great characters that come into their own later on in the following seasons.
Season 3: Awesome. The best season. Far and away the best season. And the one that's most like the original show.
Season 4: Ok.

Parts of season 1 of Legend of Korra are good.

Season 2 is pretty bad.

Season 3 fucking shines.

Season 4 tends to be okay to good depending on the episode.

Well, Last Airbender was as close to perfection as a show of that kind can be, so the comparison is kinda unfair, even with the same people doing Korra... that doesn't necessarily mean they'd be able to capture the same magic twice. Just think back to the first two Ghostbusters movies, to make a random example... the cast, writers and director were the same, and the sequel wasn't even remotely as good as the original, while still be enjoyable.

With Korra is kinda the same thing: it's interesting to see the world Aang and the rest of the original cast helped to create after the end of the original series, the animation is still great and it has some very fun and likeable characters... for the most part.

But is obviously not as good as Last Airbender, and admidettly Korra is very bratty for a good portion of the show. She gets better though.

Yes. Shadowplay, OBS, and Fraps are good programs to work with. Shadowplay for easiness (no streaming, quality can suffer depending on settings), Fraps for quality (lacking in features like streaming and DVR, suffers from massive file sizes, no longer updated), OBS for features (complexity in setup is an issue, might require a more powerful computer (CPU) than other programs, but can be configured to work on most systems). There are other good programs out there, too.

I personally use OBS now. Not, OBS Studio, as last I checked that doesn't have Game DVR functionality yet, but the Classic 0.658 build.

I've been using Audacity with the mic input set to some sort of thingthingamajig (I forget, but I'm pretty sure it's a default thing in Windows) for recording game audio.

The Game DVR thing that Classic has and Studio lacks is like Shadowplay (OBS calls it the 'Recording Buffer'). You hit a button, and it starts constantly recording/encoding video and audio together, storing video in RAM. If something interesting happens in game, pressing a button will automatically save the last 60 seconds of recorded footage as a video file (the amount of time can be customized. I set mine to 2 minutes for a while). Video older than the buffer period (the 60 seconds) is purged from RAM if not recorded. Having a good CPU and taking the time to properly set up your encoding settings and hotkeys is really important, as you might otherwise get really poor performance while encoding. Shadowplay works in much the same way, but relies more on the GPU for encoding, and generally doesn't suffer from performance hits. Shadowplay lacks a lot of customization, though.

Everything on this channel was recorded using the Recording Buffer feature.

Ah, right.

I am fine mostly in OBS Studio, I am just unable to separate voice comms and other sources from in game source, given I only use a headset for my sound. The only way I have seen to be able to do that is by getting a virtual audio cable but that's really hard to set up for on the fly filming/easy filming.

It's basically why I do or don't do most things lately. I should have a decent cushion when the cold weather hits and work dries up, but by then, I'm not spending much at all because I need to be relatively ascetic. Then come spring, I don't spend, because I need to save for winter!
