I have another delayed Christmas coming up on the first, so i'll end up with more stuff later, but so far i was given a very nice pair of boots by my mother.

And was taken out to eat several times.

I got some kick ass shirts, some star wars books, a mug with "That's what I do I drink and I know things" on it, some dvds, a few nerdy trinkets, a stormtrooper pop vinyl, some bathroom gift sets and some cash.

Considering I didn't know if I even wanted anything this christmas I am very happy with what I received.

Plus I have my Birthday on the 7th so that's coming up.

I got a bunch of lottery tickets (didn't win anything) and some money, because I often already have what I want. Same problem goes in reverse. I don't know what the rest of the family wants that doesn't cost an arm and a leg and I'm not one who buys trinkets.

And I return to NJ, safe and sound, though lacking 4 teeth. Huzzah! It was a nice visit though, experiencing middle class life and comfort was like the lap of luxury, as well as seeing the family down there again. Good times.


I received a book on Chiang Kai-shek, a book on the life of Mao, some chocolates, work pants, a resistance band, a Hess truck, some new plastic bowls and spoons (I like big bowls), new towels for my personal use, some cups for my reclaimed Kuerig machine, some cash from the various relatives, other such things, and I bought myself some self-care stuff and a hard copy of 1/2 Genie Hero.

My framed lithograph of Tali, that limited run, appears to be missing from the closet I lovingly stored it in, and despite everyone claiming they didn't move it. I intend to get to the bottom of that however.

I have a new GTX 1080, and now I need some flashy new game to make this GPU sweat.

I would have said DOOM if that game didn't require only half of a 1080's VRAM on the recommended settings. Dunno what games there are that would even get close to 8 GB and actually need to use that much. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided has some ultra settings that ramps it up to 7 GB, but I don't know how well it runs.

I also noticed that Mass Effect 2 is only 5€ on steam.

Can't wait until I get my GTX 1080 so I can play around like that too.

I already own Doom and DX on Xbone, however. Doom runs at a surprisingly consistent 60fps on the console, and it still looks very good. I need a performance hog to better gauge my investment.

Hope everyone had an excellent Christmas/Hanukkah weekend (Is that still going on?). On Friday evening I drove north through the heaviest storm in SoCal we probably had all year. Four hours of both hands on the wheel, quick precise glances into the side mirrors and only seeing the aura of red lights shine through my water filled windshield through the mountains and San Joaquin Valley to spend two days at my parents. It was quiet, got to see the dogs run around, see my aunt and uncle and I cooked a duck. Everyone liked it. Got socks, a bronze statue of a P51 Mustang and some Bill Bryson books. I just hope next year I can bring a female with me.

What kind of New years plans do you guys have in mind?

William Shatner, who's been hit harder than anyone with losing both Carrie Fisher and Leonard Nimoy.
Still glad the entire TNG cast is still around and incredible friends at that.

Really tragic timing for that heart attack. Had it been after the flight or before, she probably would have gotten to a hospital in time to save her.

We've lost a lot of iconic and talented people in the past couple years, but 2016 has been really sad with the sheer amount of folks dying.

In happier news, Tyranny is really good so far. It feels more reactive and better designed than Pillars, but I'm only at the very start since I like to scour areas for lore/items. Already wondering how a second run will play, like Alpha Protocol.
