Damn, I'm dumb. I looked at my phone to see the time, it read 4:04 and I thought my clock didn't load.

I live again. Rough, rough week. Was a full interior of a 2.5 story house. With the boss hurt, he couldn't do even 2 hours of work Monday, had to do it alone. Got 90% done, somehow, but for a den. Earned a nice bonus, but I'd trade it all for my dad to not be in severe pain and unable to move his torso.
Hope you guys had a better go of it.

Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
Pretty full week, but now at least I got Sunday to relax (most of the time).
Dr. Strange 2 was fucking great.

Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
Only get one day off a week, normally? I've been getting antsy with "only" a day and a half of rest.
Re: Tali'Thread vas Clan Zorah nar BSN 6.0
Nah, yesterday was just very full, compared to normal Saturdays. First off getting groceries, then directly to the cinema to watch Doctor Strange 2 and after that directly to a birthday party for a friend (with too much loud music) for the rest of the day. Now I get to be alone at home and chillax, aside from some minor stuff. I need that after the work week.

I've heard some giant theatres over in the UK, 69+ screens, are showing nothing but Doc Strange 2 on all screens, all day. Last time I was in a theatre was for...Jurassic World, I think.
I need my weekends to be minimal in every way. Other than a daily walk, I aim to do nothing meaningful, and I call that a victory. Which is an unhealthy attitude, granted.

"It's Official, Metroid Dread Is The Best-Selling Game In The Metroid Series"

Dread selling 2.90 million units is massive considering how niche Metroid really is. The franchise desperately needed a win since Prime 4 is still a long ways off. Good for Samus. (Now if only we could get Nintendo to perform a miracle on F-Zero, Paper Mario, Star Fox...)
"Reggie Fils-Aime initially thought Metroid: Other M would be a hit"
"Penny for your Metroid: Other M thoughts? Well, I’m sure you can spare more than a penny, as people have thoughts on that game, including former president of Nintendo of America Reggie Fils-Aime. The Reggie Metroid: Other M well is deep, as he elaborated recently on the Kinda Funny Gamescast [via Nintendo Everything]. Reggie explained:
“I really thought that that was going to be a defining moment for the Metroid franchise. It was giving much more of a perspective about Samus. I really thought that was going to be a killer moment in the franchise’s history, and it wasn’t. It didn’t deliver – not the business results, it really didn’t touch the player the way we hoped it would.”
He goes on to say that there was a “large group meeting” of the minds, with Iwata and Miyamoto in attendance, on what happened, as a post-mortem of sorts. Describing himself as the “brash American” of the crew, he made the case that the game “took too long to get into the meat and potatoes,” which is absolutely true. He dinged the “first five hours” as treading water without payoff, and is “sure [he] pissed people off in the room.” Reggie says he hopes that his advice impacted future development — and to an extent, I think it did, though some Nintendo games still have pacing and over-tutorialization issues."
Truly a bitter jest; it was a killer moment... in that it almost killed the franchise!
Other M's pacing and tutorialization were the least of that game's issues. Story, characterization, controls, lack of exploration, etc. More evidence of the disconnect and pride that blinded them for so long as to why Other M was so hated. You can't fix a problem unless you analyze it honestly and listen to feedback; which they finally did. Just took them years and years to do so and get their shit together.

"The Leagues of Votann are returning from the high-gravity depths of the galactic core, laden with millennia of secrets. We’ve already glanced over their long history and explained what the Votann are, but what about the Kin themselves? Where do these militant miners and truculent trikers actually come from?
It is possible that the Ancestor Cores contain records of all Kin history since their earliest days. If such information survives, however, it is likely buried beyond recovery. Accordingly, even the perennially thorough and practical Kin have been forced to accept that – after a certain point – their ancient histories blur into myth.
The Kin may not know much about their earliest days, but there are certain articles of lost history deemed indisputable, known as “First Truths”. One such principle is that the First Ancestors departed their original homeworld – almost certainly pre-Imperial Terra – millennia ago, aboard vast fleets of generation ships. It is also deemed to be true that these Ancestors set out as prospectors, miners, and void-dredgers, charged with exploiting the riches of the heavens.
The eventual fate of the First Ancestors is uncertain, for Kin myth solidifies into intelligible history only after the long-march fleets began to arrive at their destinations near the galactic core. The records of this period boast the last references to the First Ancestors – and the earliest mentions of the Ancestor Cores.
Likewise, it is a First Truth that the Kin have been a cloned people from the very start.
The First Ancestors are held responsible for the cloneskeins – the systems of stable mutations that underpin the entire genetic structure of the Kin to this day. The gene pool drawn upon by the Leagues of Votann is stable, deep, and varied – this is no race of identical clones. In practical terms, the cloneskeins have produced a species with denser bones and muscles than baseline humans, higher red and white blood cell counts, and formidable strength and resilience.
Such was the craft of the First Ancestors that even Kin souls are engineered – they shine more dimly against the tides of the warp than their distant human cousins, with no evidence of uncontrolled psychic mutation. Indeed, only those with the appropriate psychically active cloneskein can activate the so-called barrier-tech the Kin employ to access the empyrean.
Cloneskeins differentiate the division of labour in Kin society, and impart useful abilities on those who possess them. Some Kin might have enhanced reaction times, the ability to see the infrared spectrum, or limited resistance to cosmic radiation and extremes of temperature or gravity. Many cloneskeins manifest in visible fashion, with giveaways including distinctive bodily odours, unusual eye colours, or thick subdermal layers. Such physical variations would be a cause for concern in Imperial society – but to the Kin, they are a badge of honour."

If a cloneskein fell into the hands of Dark Eldar Haemonculi or Chaos, think of the atrocities they could wreak. And the Tyranids would happily slurp a cloneskein up like a slushy.

"“Everything with Alan Wake II development is going really well,” said creative director Sam Lake. “We are deep in production, have a lot of material, and a great deal of the game is playable. But we’ve been talking for the past couple of months and have come to the decision here at Remedy, along with our wonderful publisher Epic Games, that we will not be showing anything big this summer.” Lake continued, “To create a proper, polished demo or a trailer takes a lot of effort, and it’s several months of work that could take away from development. We feel that we have momentum going, and we want to make sure we are creating the best, and first, survival horror game for Remedy. We don’t want to take the team away from that focus, so we’re going to keep going and making a great game experience, and unfortunately, you’ll have to wait a bit longer for a demo and trailer.” As part of this update, we have also shared some concept art, giving players a small tease of what to expect."

I like how we all collectively have a sigh of relief when a game is delayed. Decades of shotgunning production, even now, managed to make it sink that more time is usually a good thing.

Trimmed my whiskers down, noticed several white hairs this time. Found a long one on my head the other day.

I'd say he's been doing it for a long while now. You only now started noticing his breath. Oh that reminds me, I finished Marcus Aurelius. I should write in the book forum.
I have one or two on my chin, but I have all colors of the rainbow in my beard. In a year or two I should start to look somewhat attractive.

Are you a wiser man, ready to be a Great Man, that defines an era by stamping your boot on the pliable masses?
Same. My beard gets more red hairs than my head, browns, whites now, few I swear are blondes (father's side). Still not dense enough to get away with letting it grow out, sadly.

I think we're also beard buddies, cause I can't really let it get longer than 1 inch because it's so sparse.
