The armor Primarchs wear are treated as if they’re extra heavy duty compared to what Space Marines get in the novels (Rogal Dorn’s is specifically mentioned to be made of the same auramite alloy the Emperor and the Custodes wear, for one example), but yeah, its mentioned several times that the Primarchs' bodies themselves are generally tougher than the armor they’re wearing. It is however also mentioned numerous times by numerous people during the HH that Primarchs are in theory relatively easier to kill without their armor. One cocky Space Wolf captain tells Guilliman to his face that the number of Space Marines it would take to kill him would depend on whether he was wearing his armour or not. But it's never been tested, so who knows.

Horus’s armour was built by Chaos-corrupted traitor tech-priests using forbidden sciences that had been locked away and forcibly forgotten via psychic mind-wipes by the Emperor when he forced Mars to join the Imperium, and it was blessed in Warp magics both from scores of mortal sorcerers and from when Horus spent a nigh-infinite time in the Warp when he went through the Molech gate. (It was a nigh-infinite time for him, but in the physical universe only a few seconds passed. During that time he fought billions of daemons, created and destroyed thousands of kingdoms, etc. etc., to become the Chaos Gods’ official lapdog slave dupe puppet champion.) It can take a beating. I think only weapons soaked in the Emperor's power can pierce it. That's how Leman Russ was able to hurt him in their duel; his normal weapons would have shattered like glass against the metal or been blocked by a psyker barrier, but he was wielding the Spear of Russ at the time, forged by the Emperor himself and suffused in his energy, which could penetrate through Horus' defenses. (Its also described as guiding his hands through the combat, almost as if the Spear was doing the fighting rather than him, and it was generating a shield to protect him so Horus couldn't just flay him alive with a thought with his new godly pysker powers.)

The Chaos Gods probably could have stabilized him if they wanted to, but they didn’t care to. They are giant assholes after all. Horus was always meant to die after he served his purpose. Daemons call him the “Sacrificed King” in mockery of his fate. Not to mention, if Horus was made into a proper Daemon Prince, then that would have given the Emperor a big type advantage if we think of this match-up like a pokemon battle. Emps is uniquely suited to fighting daemons. His power burns them like acid. Daemons don’t call him the Anathema for nothing. Horus boosted by Chaos would have a better chance than a full daemon Horus. Something that we got recently in the Siege books was a flashback to ancient times from Ollanius Persson*, the oldest of all the Perpetuals, older even than Emps. (Ollanius was born in 15,000 B.C whereas Big E was born around 8,000 B.C.) Long story short, Ollanius confirms a few things: first, Big E was the first human psyker; and second, he was much, much weaker back in the day, and that his power has grown enormously over time. So Big E's body has had tens of thousands of years to acclimatize to such power, whereas Horus has done it in the span of a short couple years, done by uncaring gods who just shove that shit inside him without concern of how it damages him in the process. (Horus was stable after the first power-up at Molech, his second boost at Ullanor is the one that threatens to kill him) Makes sense his body would be bursting at the seams and running out of time. (Long story long, if you're curious: we learn that Ollanius served and fought alongside the Emperor, even holding the title of Warmaster of his armies --Irony abounds!--, and helped Big E assault the Tower of Babel**, which was filled with sorcerers trying to spread Enuncia, the "language of creation" that can alter reality and requires no natural psyker ability to wield. Olly wanted to destroy it for being too dangerous, Emps wanted to preserve it and horde it for his own use because he thought it might be a useful weapon in the future, and they had disagreements on how much freedom humanity should have, and they had a bitter falling out, in which Olly stabbed him with a dagger and said a word in Enuncia which destroyed the entire tower. In the confusion, Olly ran away and Emps walked off.)

*Ollanius Persson and Ollanius Piers are the inspiration for the legend of Ollanius Pius as you might have guessed. Piers was a normal human who died standing his ground against Daemon Angron outside the Palace, and the story of this will be merged together with the story of Persson, who is currently heading to help the Emperor so he'll probably die in the final battle against Horus on the Vengeful Spirit, eventually creating the myth that the Imperial Guard and the Ecclesiarchy venerates to this day.

**That makes two Biblical events, the other being the Cain/Abel story, the first human murder giving birth to Drach'nyen, the daemon which eventually became Abaddon's sword.

There's something almost cute about going from a sci-fi parody of 80's UK into that.

Horus' armor getting elaborate on into _that_ makes more sense though. Still kinda silly, with his tiny lil' head, but cooler than it was. I suppose the value of primarch armor in general would be, in addition to battlefield logistics plugins, the best chance non-Custodes would have to put down one would be to keep him grievously wounded in perpetuity. Armor would make that harder to pull off. Then I imagine Custodes should have some special ancient anti-warp-thing weapons that would never, ever be used in a story because it'd ruin the power wank.

Do like how Horus and Emperor are so neatly symbolic of their factions, the horrendous, fast rise to power, that inevitably burns itself out, the incredibly slow, patient buildup, then unending torment to hang on. It's like poetry, it rhymes.

There's something almost cute about going from a sci-fi parody of 80's UK into that.

Yeah, when I first got into 40k, I hunted down a lot of the older novels/codexes before getting into the modern material, and seeing how 40k has changed over the decades has been... interesting. Seeing which parts of the lore stick and which get discarded, how new lore gets introduced (and the fan reaction to it), how certain things are treated, focused on or highlighted, how much humor and satire balances out the grimdarkness, how out-of-control power levels and power creep get, seeing some things get fleshed out while others remain a mystery, etc. For one example, I think Trazyn and the Silent King are awesome, but even so I vastly prefer the Oldcrons to the Newcrons, so every change is an interesting mix of pros and cons to consider.

This feels like one of those "it's space magic i ain't gotta explain shit!" moments, because this stuff flies over my head.

As best I can understand, this guy is trying to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. First, he needs to justify how information can possibly exist, how can something be "about" something. A single atom that's part of a rock has no information, it tells you nothing about rocks or how to make one, whereas, the DNA in your hand is about the same as the DNA in your eyes, brain, blood, spit, and kidneys. That's why it's treated like a blueprint, it's "about" what your body should be like, but is not your body itself. The body is matter organized into form and function by DNA, and there's no transition stage between a universe of no information existing and then the blueprints of life.

Second, dark matter is the theory that because our physics equations cannot possibly be wrong, but don't explain certain cosmic phenomenon, that reality must wrong, and thus 3/4's of all the matter and energy in the universe is actually completely invisible, undetectable, and has no effect on anything, except when it does.

So I'm reading this is as a guy trying to prove that something that can't be tested is actually something that can't be explained, and I'm fairly sure it can't be that dumb, so I'm probably not understanding the science here.

I caught a shiny Ditto today. I wasn't planning on going out, since my legs are worn from a week of labor. You'd be surprised at how many times 210 pounds can be pushed off the ground before the knees start to hurt. Got a notice there was a special April 1st event for Dittos in Pokemon Go, with a 3 hour window from 5-8 PM local to get a 50/50 on the Pokemon spawning then to be Ditto. The ones they chose for this are also notorious pains in the asses that love to break balls. Did 10 km, in 45 degree weather, with high winds, and sporadic rain, before that little shiny fucker appeared.

Honestly, the exercise in will power matters more than an assortment of pixels I'll never use, but it's nice to have too. Caught a few dozen Ghastly too, not a decent one among them, somehow.

I have very little clue what's going on. I have the up front mission of going to the capitol and doing the bidding of the Two Fingers and whatever. Then the Volcano Mansion plot about throwing all that out and going rogue. Then the blood-guy you meet at the start talking about a Lord of Blood. Then Ranni's thing, which just resulted in me finding a "fingerslayer knife" in the Eternal City. And it's not clear who, if anyone, is better or worse than anyone else, and that's not getting into whatever the hell the Three Fingers are.

So without details, does this all end up making sense?

The trouble with that is in the UK they'd just replace you with 3 under 16's because it'd be cheaper and would get more people in for the same "worth".
But yeah they don't really have the power to do that because it's not like in the USA where every store is it's own franchise where that manager controls shit. My boss has their boss, has their boss, has their boss and it's all a part of the national company that decides all pay.
Hell technically because my managers are on a different set of contracts they are about to technically earn less than the supervisors below them due to the new National Minimum Wage rate coming in/is already in.

Less of a worker shortage and more of a "workers wanting to do these jobs" shortage. Because of the whole Brexit thing a lot of foreign workers are basically not filling the jobs, and after a culture of looking down on retail and stuff kids want a decent job after Uni/college. So, yeah, makes things difficult.
Me, after being in retail for 10 years now and wanting out of it to move to a better job, am hearing nothing back from anything other than retail.

But also money is getting tighter so the company has less money to spend on workers (before they want to dip into their own profits because of course they are holding on to it) so that means they're most likely to spend a little money on some below 16 year olds than a "seasoned vet" of their store.
