A leak apparently seems to hint that the game is due to release the 31st of March. I'm calling BS, that's way too early, given how nebulous the media frenzy has been on the game 'till very recently.

So all they announced is the release date? March 21st, but I thought we'd get a little more.

nope.

simple because it's most likly going to be pointless, much like the robodog in ME3 from the collectors edition.

None of those pre-order/edition exclusives sound enticing to me. Mostly because casual clothes were available to everyone in the previous games, Scavenger Armor sounds edgelord as fuck and I doubt those "elite" weapons will stand out that much. Even if they did, I wouldn't pay 20% extra for it.

To be honest I still regret not getting the blackhole gun in ME2. It gnaws at me.

Though it appears the difference between the 2 special editions seems to be that you can pay $30 for 20 (1 per week) premium boosters packs in the MP.

https://www.masseffect.com/en-gb/news/m ... g-in-march

[[ "By Aaryn Flynn, General Manager of BioWare

On behalf of our teams across Montreal, Edmonton and Austin, I’m excited to announce that Mass EffectTM: Andromeda will be launching in North America on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 and beginning Thursday, March 23, 2017 in Europe. We appreciate your patience (and in fact, even your lack of patience in some instances) as we’ve been focused on completing the game. Here’s a little bit of context into how we’ve gotten here.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is our most ambitious Mass Effect game to date. We’re telling completely new stories, creating new characters, new planets, new species, and introducing new gameplay systems. And for the first time, we’re bringing Mass Effect to the FrostbiteTM game engine, an incredible engine that’s delivering a tremendous graphical jump from the trilogy to Mass Effect: Andromeda. To deliver on this, we’re taking all the time we can to make sure you’re getting the best possible experience.

Over this holiday break, developers at BioWare took home a version of the game in what we call the “holiday build”. This is a longstanding studio tradition that goes back to the early days of the original Mass Effect. Many load up a PC or console and go home to play as much as possible at their leisure. Coming back from holiday, the feedback has been great. Getting the endorsement from members of our studio, many of whom played key roles on the original trilogy, was definitely a key factor in helping us lock in on the date.

Even more exciting for us over the last couple of months has been seeing the excitement build in the community as we’ve started to share more about the game. The passion you have for the franchise continues to drive us. And now, we’re just a couple of months away from delivering a brand new Mass Effect experience to you for the first time in five years – richer, deeper and ready for exploration. We’re excited about how far we are going with the franchise, and we hope you find it’s been worth the wait.

See you in Andromeda, Aaryn" ]]

Got to hand it to them, that jacket PeeBee wears looks warm, comfortable and really natural. I don't know much about visual technologies or graphics, but to pull that off is pretty impressive, IMHO.

I hope they let everyone wear proper armor. Period. It was always a B.S. idea to let everyone wearing casual clothes and just a breather whatever the environment. Especially since they made alternate suits anyway later on!

One does not simply FTL to Space!Mordor. There is evil there that does not sleep, and the Remnant are ever watchful. It is a barren wasteland, riddled with fire and ash and dust, the very air you breathe is a poisonous fume. Not with ten thousand pathfinders could you do this. It is folly!

@Azint: You tease to please.
@Theo: Not showing up on Steam. Maybe Origin? No idea. But Origin is perma-fucked for me, I have to do a password recovery/change literally every time I start it up.

So from the screenshots, looks like 3 abilities, one of them with a resource cost (Per encounter or charges maybe?). So this'll be ME3 style, more action than RPG.

What I'm curious about is how the free form combat plays out with these vertical environments.

Also replace those two human teammates with cool aliens. And I want to see some high resolution pictures of faces. All the faces.

Otherwise, looks nifty. Not going to buy the $30 for 20 MP packs edition, but I might get the $70 one.

Still NOT gonna buy, let alone preorder, until I ear good feedbacks from properly reliable sources. And it's obviously gonna be an Origin-only release. The main reason EA put that damn platform in the works is because they didn't want to pay the Steam's fees for uploading DlCs, and ME3 STILL hasn't been released on it.

Well, doesn't make much sense for her to wear the suit in safe environments. But when taking her on more hazardous places it's soooooooooo much better once you have a decent-looking armor to put her into.

And thats Mass Effect 1, completed again, for the umpteenth time.

The game has aged noticeably, but man, what a start to the series. I still think the first game is my favorite.

Also I dont care what anyone says, I love the music in the credits of this game.

I also put Miranda in armour as soon as I am able.
I have a doctrine and that doctrine is ARMOUR FOR ALL!
I would even have Tali in plate armour if I could, as she's the one who needs the most protection due to racial traits :P

Also I might get the full edition of the game.
Maybe.
Because I know at some point down the line I'll need to get the packs from MP anyway, we always do, 'tis only a matter of time as Bioware isn't Blizz, they wouldn't make drops cosmetic.

To be fair, Tali has to actually LIVE in the suit, so it makes sense that she wouldn't be the most heavily armored. Further, Kinetic Barriers are actually way more effective in this universe than armor is.

Its more that its stupid people will go into the vacuum of space with a breather mask on, and no shirt.

Miranda was appointed by TIM to be the leader of the Lazarus Cerberus Cell, and she seems to do a little bit of everything: science, logistics, tactics, special missions, recruitment, management, research, assessment, etc.

Well it's how we Infantry work. Gotta know every weapon system and style of combat to be effective in a variety of environments and situations.

HOWEVER, in a science expedition, it seems combat skills would be a secondary requirement.

Better safe than sorry, though.

Yeah, the powers are a bit undermined when it's very much faster to just shoot whatever it is that you want killed. Not to mention that the upgrades seem to be the generic "+10% to this" instead of something original. How about making Overload fire continuously at the cost of a longer cooldown depending on how long it's active? Going full Palpatine on some aliens sounds much more interesting than "+50% damage to shields".

Yeah, but Mass Effect has always given me the impression that Shepard dedicated his/her entire military career and training to the path you choose. Infiltrator? Shepard was always the one launching sneak attacks. Adept? Shepard destroyed entire battalions with the power of the mind. Engineer? Shepard can hack almost anything.

It feels cheapened when you can just choose whatever you want to be whenever you want to. As much as the weapon restrictions in ME1 and ME2 were annoying at times, you have to admit that it felt rewarding when you were given the option to choose one more weapon training. Same thing with the powers. Sometimes, less is more.

Oh and while we're talking about the gameplay...why the fuck is Ryder covering a fourth of the screen during combat?
