Re: Films and TV (Untagged spoilers)
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts was better than any of the Bayformers films, but still mediocre overall in my opinion. If you want to check it out, I'd recommend waiting for it to pop up on tv or streaming or whatever. The Bumblebee movie from 2018 was better.
Plot is just the usual: gotta find the [insert ancient relic here] before they can unleash the [insert doomsday scenario here] and summon [insert Big Bad here] type of stuff.
The film has the usual cheesy dialogue and plot conveniences/contrivances you'd expect from a live-action Transformers, but dialed up to 11.
You do get some good action bits, but those scenes are few and far between.
Camera work and cinematography is good.
Sound effects from the Monsterverse showed up here; I heard Kong's roars and Godzilla's atomic breath in spots.
Animation was meh in a lot of places, which hurts on a movie this cgi-heavy and with its budget.
The film is overstuffed with characters, and many don't even have any lines, let alone get fleshed out.
Human characters are kinda boring, but are far from the worst this Transformers series has to offer.
Optimus isn't quite as bloodthirsty as he was in the Bay movies, but he's still way more violent than "Classic" Optimus. This is a Optimus scarred by centuries of war and almost breaking under the strain of guilt and command, making him very grumpy and distrusting of outsiders at first. But he does get better over the course of the film.
Man, they did Wheeljack dirty.
The animators' clear favorite was Arcee: she had the most crisp cgi, her face was designed to be extra cute, and they gave her wide hips/thicc thighs with a walk cycle that draws the eye, if you catch my drift.
The Maximals are neat, but only Primal and Airazor are really treated as characters. Cheetor gets like two lines, and Rhinox doesn't speak at all. They transform into their robots modes only briefly, and in the chaos of the big third act, its hard to get a good look at them.
Unicron looks cool, but he lacks that gravitas a dark space god that eats planets should have. Scourge and the Terrorcons are just a generic bad guys, unmemorable.

Saw The Flash tonight and...... eeeeeeeh. Yeah. Some nice moments, even some emotional moments, but the movie at the same time tries too hard and fails to deliver in key aspects. Can't really recommend it after seeing a really good multiverse movie in Across the Spiderverse. Also, Barry Allen, as played by Ezra Miller, really grates on the nerves. In any version.

Re: Films and TV (Untagged spoilers)
Oh, boy. Seems we get "Serious Sokka" again. And I hope the production goes on for some years, if the series turns out (against expectations) to be good, because at least the kid playing Aang is way too young to be romantically interested in Katara's actress (who seems older than him?). Certainly too young now to be romantically kissing her in the near future of three years or so.
And, yeah, seems the writer's strike has done a big number on Hollywood releases. Gonna be another dry spell in the near future.

Re: Films and TV (Untagged spoilers)
Yeah, the Flash movie is bad. For a whole bunch of reasons. More than I care to go into detail about. The film does have its moments, but they don't even come close to making up for its issues. Not surprising that the film is bombing.
Extraction 2 on Netflix was a lot of fun. If you like R-rated action movies, then get this a whirl. Takes what everyone enjoyed about the first and dialed it up to 11. And Netflix knows they got a franchise maker on their hands; they're going to keep making sequels as long people keep watching and Chris Hemsworth wants to keep making them. Goes without saying that everyone wants their own John Wick these days.
