Brings back memories of the multiple fires we had in So Cal the past few years. And reminds me we haven't had a good sky darkening fire in a while. They've become common place.

"Publisher Paradox Interactive and developer Nimble Giant Entertainment have announced grand strategy game Star Trek: Infinite for PC and Mac. It will launch this fall.
“It is an honor to bring one of entertainment’s most iconic properties to life for our players and Star Trek’s multigenerational fanbase,” said Paradox Interactive CEO Fredrik Wester in press release. “We know how much this franchise means to fans all over the world, and we are working closely with Nimble Giant and Paramount Consumer Products to create a faithful and fulfilling game that lives up to their expectations.”
Here is an overview of the game, via Paradox Interactive:
Star Trek: Infinite is a grand strategy game based on the iconic sci-fi franchise. Set a few decades before Star Trek: The Next Generation, players will run an entire fleet within the Star Trek universe, commanding one of four major powers in the galaxy: the United Federation of Planets, Romulan Star Empire, Cardassian Union, or Klingon Empire.
Star Trek: Infinite puts players in command of one of four major powers in the galaxy, each with individualized traits, stories, quests, and more to make their play feel distinct. With stunning visuals, difficult choices, and unique gameplay, this game allows players to experience a beloved franchise in a new way as they navigate contact with other empires and worlds."

DUKAT: War is such thirsty work. Don't you agree?
WEYOUN: Perhaps if you didn't talk so much, your throat wouldn't get so dry.
DUKAT: Cardassians do like to talk. I suppose it can be a failing at times. To the conquerors of the Federation!
WEYOUN: Aren't you being a bit premature?
DUKAT: I don't think so. Not with twenty eight hundred Dominion ships waiting to come through that wormhole.
WEYOUN: Those ships aren't going to be here for another five hours, and need I remind you a lot can happen in that amount of time.
DUKAT: Tell me, Weyoun, have you ever been diagnosed as anhedonic?
WEYOUN: You think I'm incapable of experiencing joy just because I'm cautious?
DUKAT: We didn't defeat the Federation by being cautious.
WEYOUN: We haven't defeated it yet. And even if we do, it's only the beginning. Holding on to a prize as vast as the Federation isn't going to be easy. It's going to require an enormous number of ships, a massive occupation army and constant vigilance.
DUKAT: I look forward to it!
WEYOUN: I'm sure you also looked forward to occupying Bajor and we all know what a disappointment that was.
DUKAT: On Bajor I merely implemented policy, I didn't make it. If I had, things would have turned out quite differently.
WEYOUN: If you ask me, the key to holding the Federation is Earth. If there's going to be an organised resistance against us, its birthplace will be there.
DUKAT: You could be right.
WEYOUN: Then our first step is to eradicate its population. It's the only way.
DUKAT: You can't do that.
WEYOUN: Why not?
DUKAT: Because! A true victory is to make your enemy see they were wrong to oppose you in the first place. To force them to acknowledge your greatness.
WEYOUN: Then you kill them?
DUKAT: Only if it's necessary.

Starting up Sekiro again, because I left it unfinished literally on the last boss. Breezed through the start, got walled at the friggin' bull. Apparently the proper strategy was to not use your ninja gear and parry/dodge, but to run away and bait the charge. So it goes. Moved into the castle reservoir, where the game starts. First time I beat the miniboss there, it took me hours and hours of perfecting the route of killing all the mooks up to him, then getting blasted by his spear combos. Still dying, but the timing on the Mikiri (sp) counter is way more generous than I remember. Basically tapping B and it usually lands. But I'm remembering why I quit at the end, heh.

Also took a long walk, since it was Axew day in the Pokemanz. Caught a shitton of them, though no perfect 15/15/15, got an XXL, an XXS, usable shinies, 99% for every PVP league, and otherwise enjoyed the beautiful day. I also left an art stream running on my second monitor, and when I came back, he was drawing furry anal porn, and I noticed my grandmother had been in the room fiddling with stuff. So...that's neat.

Awwwww. That's the perfect attitude to have for that.

I started Senran Kagura: New Waves AND Arknights on my phone today. It helped that I was traveling from my parents and I didn't have to drive, so I had 3-4 hours to put into getting the first steps started in each. Phone won't hold any significant videos now, but all 3 games I play are under 20gb.

They're both quite fun.

I played Midnight Suns for half of the day yesterday and I gotta say, the "friendship simulator" aspect of the game does get tiring quickly. Too many people to juggle (16 in total) and that you don't get a romance option (I'd be very interested in my character having a thing with Magik, since she is very similar to his backstory, actually and they bond very well with each other) is really a mistake. Also the ressource juggling... my goodness. You need to collect ingredients from running around the player hub (which starts out big and then gets gigantic later on) for some story stuff and a lot of one-shot items; you need three different ressources en masse which, at the point where I am in the game, are just way too scarce and are difficult to get and there's another ressource for cosmetic items on the side. In total, there's way too much "on the side" stuff compared to the tactical missions. Which are fine and fun. I haven't yet gotten to the point where they feel tedious, which comes at some point even in XCOM 2 and which comes way too early in WH40K: Chaosgate Daemonhunters.

At some point I'll have to examine if I want to continue playing the game without falling into the usual sunk cost fallacy thinking. My time probably could be spent better elsewhere.

The other half of my Saturday I spent playing more Crusader Kings III with my "Avalon restored" safefile. I really wanted to advance at least to 1200 and start the Late Medieval tech line. In the meanwhile I've been conquering Scandinavia and added it as a separate empire to my empire of Avalon (i.e. the British isles). Now I think I'll add Germany and maybe the Netherlands to it and quickly research through the tech tree in "only" about 50-60 years, since all my cultures counties are at 100 development it should go pretty quickly, maybe in my actual rulers lifetime even, since he's only 23 or something. If I go health focus, I probably should be able to let him live through it.

at least you only have the friendship once, you don't have to do it again in new game +.

Yeah, I don't think I'll be revisiting this game after I finish it. If I finish it.

Did a lot better today. One shot the 7 Spears lad, 2 shot the ninja. Oddly, took quite a few goes at the other ninja in the memory world. Second round with Genichiro, 4 or so tries. Mostly think my Souls training is throwing me off, where stuff like a giant manchild (literal) throwing a gigantic metal bell at me isn't parryable, when in this game everything except sweeps and grabs tends to be, or try to dodge instead of block dicey moves, when i-frames are much less generous. The prosthetic weapon system still seems odd to me, in that only 2 of the many options ever seem useful for anything but hyper-specific situations, and never as some integrated combat option.

What is the premise of Senran Kagura? I hear that name often, and I know it has pretty anime girls, but I always forget the premise the second I look it up.

There's a point in every Persona game (post 3) where you realize you're halfway through the Social Link (friendship levels) with like 15 different NPCs, and you don't remember any of their schedules, and time slots are very finite because you also need to do stat-building stuff at the same time, but you gotta advance Tekkiyumi's story because he only shows up like once every other week and ahhhhhhhhhh.

Yeah, no romance options, especially in those kind of hyper-social game systems, is always bizarre. Not even in the sense of a full fledged romantic arch and such, but even an acknowledgement that non-purely platonic emotions exist in every developed relationship.

Titty ninjas from different schools battle each other and bond over friendships. The stories you play through are goofy, though some of the back stories are tragic as heck. Game play though is fun and fantastic. Each girl has her own weapon and style so there's lots of ways to play through them. One game is Peach Beach Splash and it's the best game to play when it's scorching outside. Girls running around water parks in bikinis that get shot off with water pistols. You play cards that activate skills and so you have to strategize based off of what kind of team you build to what water guns you equip. It's really deep, but once you get the hang of it it's hours of fun. The music though is on fire, for all the series. I tossed the OST aside when they came with the game not knowing what a huge mistake that was. Mass Effect, Star Fox, Halo, Senran Kagura. Best series for me.

kill every boss and mini boss on your first run and upgrade the stuff you need (especially the healing flask), then practice the final boss a lot it will take time especially because of the 3 phases (you know grandson and then supergrandpa, then supergrandpa with a spear), third phase is the worst.

I think second phase is where I gave up last time. And I missed the Demon fight. Though if I do go for achievements, is it best to do Shura right away? I've heard that's the shortest and has the best NG+ bonus stuff.

can't remember much of the new game plus stuff you keep your upgrades, level ups and stuff you have found up to whatever ending you choose.

I personally chose the shura ending after after doing the return ending, as you can't completely upgrade my flask as it does cut the game short.
